Carbon Pulse is an online, subscription-based B2B service dedicated to providing in-depth news and intelligence about carbon pricing initiatives and climate change policies around the world. Their coverage focuses mainly on emissions trading markets and other methods of using taxes and market-based mechanisms to cut greenhouse gas output. Carbon Pulse is an independent private venture headquartered in London, UK. It was founded by three ex-Reuters/Point Carbon journalists with almost 30 years experience between them in covering carbon markets and climate policy.

Project Details 

Assessment and calculation of carbon footprint of a conference organised by Carbon Pulse. "How to Survive and Thrive in Carbon Markets"
The Carbon Forward 2018 conference held in London equipped delegates, including companies with regulatory exposure, legislators, traders, analysts, investors, and everyone with an interest in emissions trading, with everything needed to understand and manage the risks and opportunities in the EU ETS & global carbon markets.

Objectives

1. Assessment of carbon footprint - Accurate calculation of the carbon emissions by understanding the motive for calculation of emission and identifying different sources of emission (scope 1,2,3)
2. Reporting the emission to different stakeholders (customers, employees, suppliers, board, etc)
3. Recommending different actions and best practices in carbon management to ultimately become carbon neutral.

Our attainments

We at EnKing International first identified and understood the motive behind the carbon emission calculation which is very important to determine how and what to measure.
Identified emissions from different scopes (scope 1, 2,3) along with taking in various factors like number of attendees, length of the time even ran, energy used like electricity, heating oil etc.
Covered all aspects of the event like attendee travel, organizer travel, waste etc. to ensure accurate calculation.
Measured and found out the estimated carbon emission, accurately and transparently reported the amount of carbon emission the event created.
Developed a detailed inventory of the emissions and defined actions to be taken to reduce emissions.
